Once the audit and validation processes were completed, Acciaierie di Verona, part of the Pittini Group since 2015, was included in the European EMAS register in October 2020. Notification of its listing was recently issued to Acciaierie di Verona by the EMAS Italy Section of the Ecolabel and Ecoaudit Committee. The acknowledged compliance with this voluntary protocol, promoted by the European Community, concerns the entire production system of the Verona facility and, among other things, certifies that the company has adopted a rigorous system to ascertain, document and improve its environmental performance and to provide public and other institutional subjects with exhaustive information on its environmental management.
In fact, EMAS was created with the aim of raising awareness and developing environmental impact management policies aimed at sustainable economic development, enhancing the role and responsibilities of companies in monitoring their performance.
“The environmental management system required by the strict EMAS standard – explains the Pittini Group – is based on the ISO 14001:2015 standard and requires the publication and periodic updating of an Environmental Declaration that reports significant information and data with respect to its environmental impact, with particular reference to the performance relating to energy, the use of raw materials, the use of water resources, waste management and emissions into the atmosphere”.
