The product

The technique of reinforced soil is a method of construction which allows the realization of slopes or embankments with front slope greater than the soil internal friction angle, up to a vertical wall, in replacement of traditional structures with greater environmental impact.

The mesh is used as a shaped metal formwork  to create the desired profile of the slope; the maintenance of the angle determined by the geotechnical project is guaranteed by the presence of the metal tie rods anchored to the shaped panel.

By means of alternating layers of compacted soil (with a thickness between 60 and 70cm ) and of particular types of armor reinforcement consisting of geogrids that ensure its stability, it is possible to reach even higher heights: ie. 20m.

Thanks to these special characteristics, the Pittini Group’s reinforced soil solutions were chosen to protect the Municipality of Mittenwald (Bavaria) from avalanches.
