{"id":17538,"date":"2019-11-07T09:58:01","date_gmt":"2019-11-07T08:58:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/beahead.pittini.it\/?p=1066"},"modified":"2026-02-18T09:51:53","modified_gmt":"2026-02-18T08:51:53","slug":"the-quality-of-pittarc-wires-for-nord-stream-2","status":"publish","type":"blog","link":"https:\/\/www.pittini.it\/en\/blog\/the-quality-of-pittarc-wires-for-nord-stream-2\/","title":{"rendered":"The quality of PITTARC wires for Nord Stream 2"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Nord Stream 2, the world&#8217;s longest gas pipeline<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In fact, in recent decades natural gas, extracted from underground aquifers, has become a widely used commodity the world over.<br \/>\nIt is used both in the domestic and industrial sectors, for example in heating and refrigeration systems, and as a fuel in the transport sector.<\/p>\n<div class=\"video-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"La qualit\u00e0 dei fili PITTARC per il Nord Stream 2\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/uCjOURiKohU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This energy source has several advantages compared to other fossil fuels: its costs are<strong><span style=\"color: #00358e;\"> significantly lower<\/span>,<\/strong> it is more <span style=\"color: #00358e;\"><strong>compatible with the environment<\/strong><\/span> and, above all, it is <span style=\"color: #00358e;\"><strong>easily transportable<\/strong>.<\/span> The gas is transported through <span style=\"color: #00358e;\"><strong>gas pipelines <\/strong><\/span>from the production site to the place of consumption<strong>.<\/strong> These pipelines are present throughout the world and amount to about one million kilometres; that is, more than 25 times the Earth&#8217;s circumference.<\/p>\n<p>After contributing to the construction of the first Nord Stream project, <span style=\"color: #00358e;\"><strong>Pittini Group<\/strong><\/span> products were again chosen for <span style=\"color: #00358e;\"><strong>Nord Stream 2<\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Nord Stream 2 will transport natural gas over a distance of 1,230 km from the Baltic coast of Russia to Greifswald in Germany.\u00a0 The pipeline is made up of <strong><span style=\"color: #00358e;\">about 200 thousand steel pipes coated with reinforced concrete<\/span><\/strong>, each measuring 12 metres in length and weighing 24 tons. \u00a0In all, <strong><span style=\"color: #00358e;\">2,424 thousand tons of steel<\/span><\/strong> is required, which is about 332 times that use for the Eiffel Tower in Paris (<em>source: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ilpost.it\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">www.ilpost.it<\/a>)<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>Pittarc wire selected to build the pipeline<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Over one thousand tons of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pittarc.com\/en\/products\/saw\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><u>PITTARC submerged arc welding wire (SAW)<\/u><\/a> were supplied for the construction of this impressive off-shore pipeline.<br \/>\nThe high quality of the titanium-boron and nickel-molybdenum micro-alloy wires with particularly accurate chemical analyses and low content of impurities and gases, guarantees joints with excellent mechanical characteristics and high resistance.
