From 6 to 22 February 2026<\/b>, Italy will host the XXV Winter Olympic Games<\/a>, which for the first time will see Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo<\/b> as joint venues for the event. Among the works carried out in preparation for the event, the redevelopment of the Cortina Sliding Centre ‘Eugenio Monti’<\/strong> is one of the most significant interventions, bringing a historic winter sports infrastructure<\/a> back into operation.<\/p>\n

The rebirth of the ‘Cortina Sliding Centre’<\/h2>\n

The original track, built in the 1920s and home to numerous international events over the years, has been completely rebuilt to meet current technical standards, while retaining a partial resemblance to the historic track. The new Sliding Centre will host bobsleigh, skeleton and luge<\/b> competitions and is designed to accommodate athletes with disabilities. The track is 1,749 metres long, with 16 curves<\/b> allowing athletes to reach a maximum speed of 145 km\/h<\/b>.<\/p>\n

Pittini steel in the construction phases<\/h2>\n

The project involved around 135 people between February 2024 and March 2025, with over 300 days of activity on a construction site located in an area of outstanding natural beauty. The lead contractor, Pizzarotti, coordinated 35 subcontractors and 115 suppliers.<\/p>\n

Among these was the Pittini Group<\/strong>, which supplied Jumbo\u00ae rolled steel<\/a> in diameters of 10-16 mm<\/strong>, a solution suitable for ensuring rapid installation and continuity during the construction phases<\/strong>.
