Once completed, it will be the longest underground railway connection in the world.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The project was first conceived in 1847 by Italian engineer Giovanni Qualizza. However, his idea had not taken hold for more than 160 years, until UIC Group (Union Internationale des Chemins de Fer), decided to start a feasibility study for the new Brenner railway.<br \/>\nThen the plan was approved and supported by <strong><span style=\"color: #00358e;\">Austria and Italy<\/span><\/strong> during the following years. Both countries, being aware of the tunnel&#8217;s great importance as a <strong><span style=\"color: #00358e;\">key transit and transportation route for the whole Europe<\/span><\/strong>, signed an agreement for its actual creation.<\/p>\n<div class=\"video-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"La Galleria del Brennero\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/hjj7DeYNUek?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #00358e;\"><strong>The tunnel&#8217;s construction work began in 2007<\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> with a pilot tunnel; it shall be completed by 2027.<\/span> <\/span><br \/>\nThe Brenner tunnel will become the <strong><span style=\"color: #00358e;\">world&#8217;s longest underground railway tunnel<\/span><\/strong>: a total length of about <strong><span style=\"color: #00358e;\">230 km (88 of which have already been drilled)<\/span><\/strong> and 794 m of depth under the Brenner Pass. The Tunnel will include a complex tunnel net: a pilot tunnel, two main tunnels and four side-entrance tunnels. The latter are necessary to connect the main tunnel with the outer side and are located in Ampass, Ahrental, Wolf (Austria) and Mules (Italy).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Moreover, this <strong><span style=\"color: #00358e;\">modern and effective infrastructure<\/span><\/strong> will bring a <span style=\"color: #00358e;\"><strong>huge environmental benefit<\/strong><\/span> by cutting down on road transport in favour of rail transport, which results in more time saved by drivers.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-29469\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pittini.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/Gruppo-Pittini-tunnel-brennero-1.jpg\" alt=\"tunnel brennero\" width=\"585\" height=\"390\" \/> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-29467\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pittini.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/Gruppo-Pittini-tunnel-brennero-2.jpg\" alt=\"tunnel brennero\" width=\"298\" height=\"390\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.pittini.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/Gruppo-Pittini-tunnel-brennero-2.jpg 687w, https:\/\/www.pittini.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/Gruppo-Pittini-tunnel-brennero-2-229x300.jpg 229w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 298px) 100vw, 298px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Pittini mesh for futuristic infrastructures<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For the building site of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbt-se.com\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Brenner Base Tunnel (BBT),<\/a> i.e. the central part of the new railway line connecting Fortezza (Italy) to Innsbruck (Austria), <strong><span style=\"color: #00358e;\">Pittini Group<\/span><\/strong> provided <strong><span style=\"color: #00358e;\">4,400 tons <\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pittini.com\/en\/products\/building-sector\/customized-electrowelded-meshes\/customized-meshes-in-austria\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #00358e;\">special customized meshes<\/span><\/a> produced by the Group&#8217;s Austrian subsidiary, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pittini.it\/en\/the-group\/companies\/bstg\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">BSTG Gmbh<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>With\u00a0<span style=\"color: #00358e;\"><strong>two manufacturing plants in Linz and Graz<\/strong><\/span>, BSTG delivers PITTINI&#8217;s quality to the Austrian market.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">BSTG&#8217;s electrowelded meshes were chosen because of the product&#8217;s high quality and the excellent customer service offered by the company.
