Sustainable mobility is now one of the major challenges in improving the quality of life in cities, and commuting plays a significant part in urban traffic, emissions and the stress associated with daily journeys.<\/p>\n

For this reason, Acciaierie di Verona<\/a> has chosen to promote a more responsible approach to mobility, encouraging the use of sustainable modes of transport and environmentally conscious lifestyles through a series of initiatives aimed at its staff.<\/p>\n

Among these, a central role is played by Green Mobility, the scheme that rewards those who travel to work on foot, by bicycle (conventional or electric), by scooter or using local public transport. The aim is simple yet ambitious: to make the journey to work the first sustainable choice of the day. Green Mobility offers a financial incentive for every sustainable journey made and recognises those small daily actions which, when added together, have a tangible impact on the local area, helping to reduce traffic, emissions and energy consumption.<\/p>\n

The initiative involves the approximately 400 employees at the Lungadige Galtarossa site, and today one in four of them actively participates by travelling to work using green transport. One year on from the project’s launch, a total of over 50,000 kilometres have been travelled sustainably, preventing the emission of more than 6 tonnes of CO\u2082.<\/p>\n

Change that starts with people<\/h2>\n

The figures speak volumes, but it is above all the participants\u2019 experiences that bear witness to the value of the initiative.<\/p>\n

For Marco Bertasini<\/strong>, Head of Cold Working Maintenance, the project has encouraged him to cycle even more frequently: a choice which, thanks in part to the sense of involvement and healthy competition amongst colleagues, has helped to turn his daily commute into a moment of wellbeing and camaraderie.<\/p>\n

Albino Di Carlo<\/strong>, a receptionist, also sees sustainable transport as a habit that improves quality of life: running or cycling to work means looking after one\u2019s health, reducing stress and starting the day with more energy.<\/p>\n

For Sumith Peiris<\/strong>, a cold-forming production operator, the financial reward offered by the initiative represents a tangible incentive that reinforces a choice already geared towards sustainability, making those who choose to travel more responsibly feel that their daily commitment is valued.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

A commitment that looks to the future<\/h2>\n

Green Mobility is part of a wider initiative through which Acciaierie di Verona aims to actively contribute to fostering a culture of sustainable mobility.<\/p>\n

It is within this context that the company is supporting the 2026 European Mobility Week as a sponsor; this annual campaign, which takes place from 13 to 17 September, is promoted by the European Union to raise awareness amongst citizens, businesses and institutions about the importance of more sustainable modes of transport.<\/p>\n

Among the initiatives planned in Verona is the \u2018Muoviamoci Bene Day\u2019, a day dedicated to promoting low-environmental-impact modes of transport, car-sharing and walking. To mark the occasion, on 16 September, Acciaierie di Verona will offer an additional reward to staff who choose to travel to work sustainably, by doubling the daily financial incentive already provided under the Green Mobility scheme and replicating the successful initiative carried out on World Earth Day (22 April 2026).<\/p>\n

The aim is to continue to promote responsible behaviour and strengthen the bond between the company and the surrounding community.<\/p>\n
