The Buccino area, in the province of Salerno, forms part of Lot 1A (Battipaglia-Romagnano) of the new Salerno-Reggio Calabria high-speed rail line, a project designed to strengthen connections along the north-south rail corridor.
The works involve upgrading the railway infrastructure and associated facilities, with the aim of increasing the line’s capacity, improving access to the region and helping to reduce journey times between central and southern Italy.
Pittini steel at the service of the project
Around 1,400 tonnes of Jumbo® and Pittini steel bars are being used in the construction of the works; these materials are designed to meet the high standards required for major infrastructure projects.
The construction site, managed by Ediltrans, has been supplied via the Pittini Group’s integrated supply chain: the reinforcing bars come from Siderpotenza, whilst the coiled steel was supplied by Ferriere Nord. The Ceprano Distribution Centre played a key role, ensuring rapid deliveries and a constant supply of products thanks to its large warehouse and proximity to the construction site, thereby guaranteeing the continuity of operational activities.
Infrastructure that creates value
The project represents a strategic investment for the region, designed to improve transport links and connectivity within the area.
By supplying steel and providing logistical support to the construction sites, Pittini is contributing to the construction of projects that promote infrastructure development and the competitiveness of the national rail network.
