The SRS Project: a new smart system for steel slag treatment has been installed

The SRS project, a smart steel slag treatment system, has recently been kick – started by Ferriere Nord with the cooperation of POR FESR 2014-2020.
The Srs project is an extension of the Zero Waste System , which was launched in 1997. Its aim is to develop new technologies for the processing of EAF steel slag. To date, a new rotating reactor system has been installed thanks to the Srs project. Thanks to this system, powder can be reused into the electric air furnace ( EAF ) as a partial substitute of lime.

Pittini Group considers the new plant as an important investment within an Industry 4.0 framework, because the whole steel slag processing cycle can be monitored and automatized, but it also is an important achievement in terms of Circular Economy application.
