Recycling in the Circular Economy
The concept of Circular Economy is well known to the Pittini Group, as it forms the basis of its production process.
After casting and subsequent processing, the recycled ferrous material finds new life in the form of steel for the most diverse applications. This recycling philosophy, however, is within everyone’s reach even in the smallest daily activities. The RiVending project, in which several Group companies have taken part since 2018, is a perfect example.
RiVending: what does it consist of?
The project aims at optimising the recycling of vending machine cups and stirrers so that new ones can be created with the least possible environmental impact. The way it works is very simple: after consuming a drink at the vending machines, instead of throwing the cup in the general waste bin, it is placed in a special container in the break area. Separating it from the rest of the waste will allow for easier and more efficient recycling of the material, and above all facilitate the washing process. The cup, once they are in the form of plastic flakes or granules, will be fed back into production to create new ones.
Sustainability in everyday actions
The project, currently active at the Ferriere Nord, SIAT and Pittarc sites, has brought excellent results: 2.5 tonnes of CO2 were avoided by 2023 thanks to recycling. This result shows that just a few simple steps can help reduce the environmental impact of our actions and promote a more sustainable future.
