Acciaierie di Verona honoured by Confindustria Verona for its 80 years of membership

Acciaierie di Verona has received the "Pioneers 2026" award, established by Confindustria Verona to honour companies that have been members of the association for over 80 years.

The ceremony took place at the Verona Chamber of Commerce and honoured nine companies that all joined in 1945, the year Confindustria Verona was founded. These companies represent the businesses that contributed to the emergence and development of Verona’s industrial sector in the post-war period.

The award was accepted by Paolo Felice, Chairman of Acciaierie di Verona“It is a great responsibility to carry on a long entrepreneurial legacy. Looking back at the history of this company, we can see that it has weathered some very challenging times, yet its initiatives and achievements are exceptional. The Galtarossa family, like other great Italian families, played a part in Italy’s post-war reconstruction. We took up this legacy in 2015 and today Acciaierie di Verona, together with the other steelworks of the Pittini Group, is at the forefront of the evolution of the Italian steel industry.”

The history of Acciaierie di Verona began in 1902, when Antonio Galtarossa set up a small workshop specialising in the manufacture of acetylene lighting systems. His son, Giacomo Galtarossa, became the first president of the newly formed Association of Industrialists, which later became Confindustria Verona, leading it for a full twenty-six years. Acquired in 2015 by the Pittini Group, Acciaierie di Verona has been the subject of a major investment programme, still ongoing, aimed at revitalising one of the historic sites of the Italian steel industry whilst creating one of the most innovative steelworks in Italy.
