Pittini Group publishes its first Sustainability Report

The first chapter witnessing the corporate responsibility toward the environment and the community.

What is a sustainability report?

The Sustainability Report is a voluntary document in which a company reports its commitments and achievements in the field of Corporate Responsibility. It is based on three fundamental pillars: environmental, social, and economic sustainability.

Reasons for drafting a report

The Pittini Group has always paid great attention to the environment and its employees, and in December 2021 has finally decided to make social and environmental values more visible in the conduct of its business.

The document is in the public domain, but it is especially addressed to the Group’s stakeholders.
Within the company, the report promotes the disclosure of values, objectives, and projects to an increasingly broad and widespread audience of employees. On a broader scale, it illustrates a transparent and credible investment path, with the aim of maintaining the Group’s reputation in terms of both environmental and social responsibility

Sustainability in the steel industry

The process of steel production involves the use of large amounts of energy and materials, which are important aspects to consider when reducing its environmental impact. In order to maintain sustainability, it is necessary to focus on renewable energy, the possible recovery of this energy throughout the production process, as well as plant efficiency and the conservation of natural resources. The environmental data in the report reflect the Group’s commitment to limiting pollution and consumption, through sophisticated technologies such as EAF, innovative projects such as Zero Waste, and a production process focused on a circular economy. 82% of the materials used in production are recycled, 74% of the total waste produced is sent for recovery/recycling, direct and indirect Co2eq emissions have been reduced by 10% compared to the previous year, and water consumption has been reduced by 21%.

With respect to social issues, the Group emphasises that people are its most valuable asset, and is committed to ensuring continuous training, opportunities, and constant improvement in work activities. More than numbers and results, the company is committed to the health and safety of its employees.

A GRI-certified Sustainability Report

The Pittini Group Sustainability Report has been published according to the guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), an independent international body and the main authority on sustainability performance reporting. It has also been certified by IGQ, the leading Italian agency for the certification of management systems on quality, environment, occupational safety, and energy.

Through this document, the Pittini Group is committed to certifying and publicly disclosing its commitment to sustainability and becoming an integrated partner of ecological transformation.
